Every year, about 7,500 qualified and experienced women and men of around 160 nationalities serve as UN Volunteers in some 130 countries. They are professionals who play key roles contributing to peace and making an impact on development results.

National (Nepali) Volunteers

National Volunteers serve in their own country with a UN organization. The work on projects to support the country's socio-economic development delivering technical expertise in sectors as diverse as climatology, cottage industry promotion, cultural heritage and community mobilization.

International Volunteers

International UN Volunteer Specialists serve in a country other than their own and are recruited for specialized inputs to development and/or humanitarian and peacekeeping programmes.
